Woman and Father Beaten With A Bat After Asking College Age Students To Practice Social Distancing

A group of college students parting on a beach on Wisteria Island attacked a woman and her father after they asked the group to practice social distancing

A woman and her 61 year old father are currently living on their boat anchored off Wisteria Island. They heard a group of people partying and asked them to quiet down and practice social distancing

The group appeared to be college age. They arrived on the island on three center console boats and were drinking on the beach.

After the woman and her father approached the group they started attacking them. At least one of the individuals in the group hit them both with a baseball bat on their heads.

The police were called to investigate the incident. The woman’s father was taken to the hospital while she stayed behind to talk to the police.

The woman told police she was unsure how many individuals had attacked them. A witness informed police that he did not see the attack but had seen three boats leaving the island.

The woman eventually went to the hospital to receive treatment and she has been discharged .

The Monroe County Sheriff’s department is continuing to investigate the incident
