Video of the violent clashes were posted to multiple online outlets during the protests as demonstrators swarmed the streets around Place de la Nation and Place de la Republique.

The video shows the riot gear clad and baton wielding Republican Security Companies (CRS) officers in a prolonged face off with the firefighters.

Firefighters are seeking a risk pay raise of 6%, from 19% to 25%
