History is being made today as the third presidential impeachment trial gets underway. Earlier Wednesday, the House voted 228-193 to formally send the impeachment charges against President Donald Trump.
Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker, formally set in motion the impeachment process against President Donald Trump by sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate
During an engrossment signing ceremony for the House in which the seven impeachment managers were named, Pelosi stated , “The House was doing its Constitutional Duty.”
“Today, we will make history,” Pelosi said, “when we walk down — when the managers walk the hall, they will cross a threshold in history, delivering articles of impeachment against the president of the United States for abuse of power and obstruction of the House.”
The managers in a somber nature, silently walked the articles, contained in two blue folders, from the House to the Senate at which point the House clerk announced their arrival. On Thursday the articles will formally be accepted.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that the Senate would convene at noon after which the managers will read the articles aloud, Chief Justice John Roberts will be sworn in and he, in turn, will swear in senators to serve as jurors in the case.
