The citizens in South Dakota are extremely grateful for their Governor who refused to conform to the rest of the country by not imposing a stay at home order.
To show their thanks they organized a parade in her honor. The parade consisted of firetrucks blasting their emergency sirens, a pickup hauling a stock trailer, a concrete truck and construction equipment along with other vehicles.
Governor Kristi Noem was shocked and thankful for all of the support from the citizens of South Dakota.
“I am so blessed to serve the people of the great State of South Dakota. You folks made my day!”
– Governor Kristi Noem
In early April Governor Noem had issued a statement regarding her stance on not issuing a stay at home order and how the citizens of South Dakota should make the necessary choices to protect themselves. On Monday she released South Dakota’s Back to Normal Plan.
“Our constitution ensures that the citizen’s right is protected. I agree with the role of our government as set forth in our state and in our national constitution. I took an oath to uphold these constitutions. My role with respect to public safety is something I take very seriouslyThe people themselves are primarily responsible for their safety. They are the ones that are entrusted with expansive freedoms – they are free to exercise their rights to work, worship, and play – or to stay at home, or to conduct social distancing. The calls to apply a one-size-fits all approach to this problem in South Dakota is herd mentality, not leadership.”
– Governor Noem
As many governors across the United States implement orders that infringe on the constitutional rights of American citizens it is refreshing to see a state leader that understands even in a time of crisis citizens still have their rights.
