On March 3 a Post Falls police officer responded to a home looking for a 53 year old man, Thomas Boland who had a warrant out for his arrest. The police officer was shot and sustained an injury just below the waist.

The police officer was in the area of 100 S. Bentley Place in Post Falls when he encountered a man and exchanged gunfire. The police officer was hit just below the waist. The man then ran into the home.

Additional officers responded to the scene and the officer was transported to Kootenai Health. The officer was taken into surgery and is expected to fully recover.

Coeur d’Alene Police took over the situation at the home and the Swat team was brought in. One man came out of the home and spoke to law enforcement but there was still another man inside.

After multiple hours of PA commands the police were able to get in and a dead man was found inside the home. At this point the name of the deceased man is not being released and the investigation remains open and active.
