Many angry residents in Minnesota gathered outside the governor’s mansion in St. Paul expressing their frustration with the state’s stay at home order.
Tim Walz the governor of Minnesota recently stated that the state needed more testing for the coronavirus and contact tracing before the state would reconsider opening nonessential businesses.
Live Free Minnesota a group on Facebook coordinated the protest. By early afternoon on Friday more than a thousand people gathered outside the governor’s mansion holding signs and waving flags.
“Now is the time to demand Governor Walz and our state legislators end this lock down! Minnesota’s economy must be opened for business or destroying the livelihoods of thousands of Minnesota citizens and their families may result if we don’t act quickly.”

The group doesn’t believe that the models the governor is using to make his decisions are accurate. They also expressed concern about the impact the shut down is having on people who live in Minnesota. Many people are suffering financial hardships and struggling with depression. There has also been an increase in domestic violence.
Minnesota is just one of many states that has organized protests demanding that their state reopen. Protest have been going on across the country in various states including Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia
