Larimer County, CO – Sheriff’s Deputies shot a mountain lion Wednesday after it attacked a sheriff’s deputy and a civilian.

At around 2pm deputies and Game Wardens responded to a report of a mountain lion attack west of the Devil’s Backbone in the 2100 block of River Rim Road.

Deputies arrived and attempted to contain the mountain lion, but they were unable to and it moved toward a trailer park in the area. Deputies followed the mountain lion to prevent it from further attacking residents. The lion then attacked one of the deputies and was shot, a Larimer County Sheriff spokesperson said.

The deputy and civilian attacked were transported to a local hospital and were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
