Many businesses in Minneapolis have been destroyed during the riots that have been going on for the past several days in response to the death of George Floyd.
Many minorities have had their businesses destroyed during the riots. Some minority owned businesses have even put up signs outside of their business stating, “minority owned” in hopes that people in their community would not destroy their businesses.
Despite the sign put up by Korboi Balla the owner of Scores Sports Bar, looters destroyed his business. He had invested everything he had into his business. His grand opening that was scheduled for March was pushed back due to the coronavirus and now he might never get the opportunity to open up.
“I don’t know what we’re going to do.We have worked so hard to get here. So hard.”
– Korboi Balla
Balla is an active member of his community and serves as a volunteer firefighter with the Brooklyn Center Fire Department. His wife, Twyana, is an active member of the Sounds of Blackness. He has created a Go Fund Me Page to raise money to be able to reopen his business.
As rioters protest the discrimination of black people they continue to hurt the very people they claim they are trying to protect.
