An American driver has been arrested in Texas after Border Patrol agents found 53 illegal immigrants from Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico, hidden inside a sweltering tractor-trailer, authorities said Friday.Laredo North Station Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 35 Immigration Checkpoint observed a tractor-trailer approaching for inspection in the northbound lane. During the initial interview with the driver, a K-9 agent alerted to an odor it is trained to detect. A Border Patrol agent was shot and injured Friday night while conducting a traffic stop near the Texas-Mexico border and another agent shot and killed the gunman, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Saturday.CBP said that two agents pulled over a vehicle Friday evening near Brackettville on Ranch Road 674 when a person inside the vehicle fired on them.  One agent was shot and the second agent returned fire, striking and killing the gunman.  According to initial reports, two Brackettville Border Patrol Station agents were involved in a shooting incident last night while performing a vehicle stop. DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia probation officer has resigned and her friend has been arrested for borrowing that officer’s badge and gun to get free snacks at a QuikTrip. WSB-TV reports 33-year-old Pektra LaQuiche Edgerton was arrested and charged with impersonating an officer. Gwinnett County Police Officer J.T. Smith says he saw Edgerton inside the QuikTrip with a badge and gun requesting free snacks and her actions seemed suspicious.
