SWAT Officer Struck By Bullet During Standoff With Suspect

In Franklin MA as police worked to deescalate a situation with a suspect a SWAT team officer was struck by a bullet that ricocheted off of the SWAT vehicle.
The Franklin Police Department responded to a 911 call that came in early Sunday afternoon about an individual who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis as he threatened to harm himself and others.
While waiting for additional resources the Franklin police set up a perimeter and made contact with the individual. The SWAT team came to assist the police department.
During the encounter the individual fired several gunshots, but police did not return fire. One of the gunshots that ricocheted off of the SWAT vehicle struck an officer, but fortunately her was not injured.
Law Enforcement was eventually able to apprehend the individual and take him into custody. The individual was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries and he will undergo a mental health evaluation.
