Suspect Fatally Shot By Jefferson City Police Officer After Pursuit

In Jefferson City Missouri a police officer was shot and the suspect was killed after a police pursuit

Shortly after 10 pm police were investigating a weapons offense when they discovered a car that was wanted in connection with multiple shots fired offenses.

The police attempted to do a traffic stop on the Silver Ford but the suspect refused to pull over. The police pursued the vehicle. The car lead the police on a chase throughout the city.

The car eventually stopped near East Atchison and Jackson Streets and the two suspects inside the vehicle got out and fled on foot.

One of the officers was shot in the chest and the second officer returned fire, killing the suspect.

The second suspect was hiding in the woods and the police created a perimeter with a K9 unit. With the help of the Missouri State Police they were able to apprehend the second suspect and take him into custody.

The injured officer is being treated at a local hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.
