Suspect Stephan Cannon has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and three counts of armed criminal action as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Early Tuesday morning a retired St.Louis Police Captain was shot and killed by looters outside of a pawn shop in North St.Louis.

David Dorn was a retired police captain who helped out the owners of Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry from time to time. When the store’s alarm would go off he would respond and check out the situation.

Early Tuesday morning he responded to the store’s alarm which was set off by looters who shot and killed him.

Police found him around 2:30 am laying dead on the sidewalk. Apparently the incident was captured on a Facebook Live.

“He was murdered by looters at a pawnshop. He was the type of brother that would’ve given his life to save them if he had to. Violence is not the answer, whether it’s a citizen or officer,”
– St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department

David Dorn spent 38 years with the St.Louis Metropolitan Police Department before he became the police chief with Moline Acres.

On Saturday, St. Louis MPD released some surveillance footage and asked the public for their assistance.
