On Thursday many Virginia residents gathered outside of the state capitol in Richmond protesting the stay at home order, demanding that the state be reopened.
Virginia is one of several states that has started to see people protest the stay at home orders saying that the orders are a violation of their constitutional rights.
Protesters have gathered in several other states including Michigan, Kentucky, and North Carolina. In North Carolina police actually arrested protesters for violating the stay at home order.
Three groups helped to coordinate the “Reopen Virginia” demonstration. Reopen Virgina, End the Lockdown VA and Virginians Against Excessive Quarantine worked together to gather protesters at the state’s capitol.
“This is a recipe for disaster with many in our society helpless. We cannot stand by and watch our neighbors suffer while the government considers prolonging these painful conditions,”
“The economy should be reopened on 5/1 for healthy citizens continuing enhanced sanitation habits to prevent any virus from spreading. Those with compromised immune systems should not have to re-enter the economy or workforce if they do not feel comfortable.”
