Jose Luis Torres Garcia had been on the run, fleeing from warrants in California for drunk driving and drug crimes prior to the murders.

On Thursday, Garcia was picked up on a traffic stop in Cheyenne Wyoming with 15 pounds of marijuana inside his 2007 GMC Yukon. Garcia was alone and the arrest went without incident.

Police officials were concerned that Garcia would flee to Mexico before they caught up with him. Garcia will now be held on $3 million bond for the homicides. Extradition could take 2-3 weeks according to Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman, Deputy Robyn Flores.
