Police Chaplain Defies HOA, Says ‘Thin Blue Line’ Flag Is Staying Up

by AmericasKeepersAdmin on June 24, 2020

In Denver Colorado a police chaplain has been asked by his Home Owners Association to take down his Thin Blue Line Flag claiming that it represents white lives matter.

The police chaplain has had his Blue Lives Matter Flag up since National Police Week in May as a sign that he supports the men and women in blue. The Thin Blue Line is representative of the sacrifices law enforcement makes on a daily basis.

“My officers and most officers are wonderful people. I just want the police officers to know they’re doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing: protecting and serving. I’ve seen them work 16-18 hour days and turn around and do it again, even when they’ve been yelling at them, telling them they hate them and they want them to die. I’ve seen officers give up their own family’s money for Christmas for underprivileged kids in the worst neighborhoods. I work with so many officers that are so amazing,”

Meanwhile his neighbors who have flags up supporting military and firefighters do not have to take their flags down. The Chaplain has also been asked to remove his blue light and angel over his garage.

While home owners associations are privately run and can make their own rules and policies, there is a law in Colorado that protects citizens first amendment right to hang flags and political signs regardless of HOA’s rules.

The chaplain refuses to take down the flag.

“There’s nothing about racism at all there. It’s simply saying, ‘We stand for you. You continue to do all the great things you do.’ I serve with so many different officers of so many different ethnic backgrounds. I’ve shared it with them. This isn’t a white lives, this is a blue lives matter, because they do,”
