GUILFORD TOWNSHIP, PA – A Pennsylvania State Trooper was shot while conducting a traffic stop early Saturday morning. Troopers made a traffic stop around 2am in Guilford Township and contacted 20-year-old, Robert William Ransom, who was suspected of driving under the influence.
While Troopers conducted standard field sobriety tests, Police say an altercation between Ransom and the Troopers started. While attempting to detain Ransom, he pulled out a handgun and shot one of the Troopers
Ransom was not injured and was taken into custody.
The unidentified Trooper was flown to a hospital and is in stable condition.
Ransom is charged with criminal attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without license, DUI, recklessly endangering, and resisting arrest.
