A woman in Pennsylvania has been arrested on four different felonies including terroristic threat after going into a grocery store and coughing and spitting on food claiming to be sick.

On Wednesday a woman went into a PA grocery store and purposely spit and coughed on food resulting in approximately $35,000 worth of food having to be thrown out.

“Today was a very challenging day. A woman, who the police know to be a chronic problem in the community, walked into the chain’s Hanover Township store and proceeded to purposely cough on our fresh produce, and a small section of our bakery, meat case and grocery,”

The suspect Margaret Cirko was arrested and charged with two felony accounts of terrorists threats, one felony account of threatening to use a biological agent, and one felony account of criminal mischief. She also faces multiple misdemeanor charges.

Margaret Cirko underwent a psychiatric evaluation and is also being tested for the coronavirus.

During this time when food is essential and stores are struggling to keep the shelves stocked, it’s horrifying to think that someone would go into a grocery store and destroy thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of food.

“While there is little doubt this woman was doing it as a very twisted prank … we had no choice but to throw out all product she came in contact with. Working closely with the Hanover Township health inspector, we identified every area that she was in, we disposed of the product and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected everything.”
