Shelley Luther was definitely not expecting her decision to open her business would result in going to jail. She opened her salon last week because she needed to get back to work to earn income to be able to provide for herself and her family
She was issued a cease and desist letter after opening and when she didn’t comply a judge issued a restraining order on April 28. When she still didn’t shut down she was brought before a judge who told her she could either apologize and remain closed or she would face jail time and a $7000 fine.
Shelley refused to apologize and took the fine and jail time. The community rallied together to support her and a Go Fund Me page was created for her. The outpouring of support was overwhelming. As of today the fundraiser has raised over $300,000
“Shelley Luther is an American Hero that has decided to resist tyranny by opening her business against an unlawful State Executive Order. Her business, SALON A LA MODE offers services for hair and nails, microblading, permanent makeup, professional event makeup, braiding and more! Shelley and her team will likely face legal action, fines, and more during her journey back to freedom. She is doing what everyone else is only talking about, in a patriotic move to take back her liberty! Please support Shelley, and her employees by contributing to this worthy cause. You will not just be supporting Shelley, but you will be supporting the idea that our founders put in writing in the Constitution. 100% of all donations will go directly to Shelley Luther.”
– Shelley Luther’s Go Fund Me Description
Shelley was just doing what she needed to do to provide for her family. The judge who put her in jail was clearly abusing his power and cared more about making a political statement than the welfare of a citizen who was simply trying to feed her family
