Shortly after 6 pm on Saturday officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance at Twin Lake Villas Apartments. When officers arrived on the scene they were ambushed by the suspect who had a rifle.
Three officers were shot by the suspect. One officer was killed and the two other officers were transported to a nearby hospital where they have undergone surgery.
The suspect in the shooting is reportedly dead from what appears to be a self inflicted gunshot wound

At this time the officers involved in the shooting have not been identified.
Governor Greg Abbott shared a statement expressing his condolences regarding the incident.
“Tonight’s shooting in San Marcos is a somber reminder of the service and sacrifice our brave men and women in law enforcement make every day to keep us safe. I am grateful for the swift action of the San Marcos Police Department in containing the threat and minimizing the loss of life. I ask all Texans to join Cecilia and me in praying for the officer killed and for those injured, and for the continued safety of all law enforcement officers who protect our communities.”
