A police chase ended deadly in Springdale Ohio when the suspect’s car collided with the police officer’s vehicle on Saturday night.

33 year old Kaia Grant died in the line of duty last night during a police chase. She is the first officer in Springdale history to die in the line of duty. Sgt. Andrew Davis was injured in the crash.

The pursuit began last night in an other jurisdiction and then entered the city limits of Springdale when Grant and Davis attempted to stop the suspect but ultimately the suspect’s vehicle collided with their vehicle in a collision on an interstate.

First responders arrived at the scene and attempted to treat Grant who was airlifted to a hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. She had been with the Springdale police for 8 years.

The suspect is in custody and currently being treated at a local hospital. The police recovered a firearm at the scene of the accident. At this time no charged have been filed and the police department is not releasing information about why the suspect was being pursued.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Officer Grant as well as the Springdale Police Department
