NYPD Retirement Applications Surged 400% In De Blasio’s NYC

by AmericasKeepersAdmin on July 09, 2020

As crime continues to rise dramatically in New York City the NYPD has seen a 400 percent increase in retirement applications.

The NYPD is struggling to keep up with the number of applications being filed for retirement and has limited the number of daily applications.

Currently the department is only able to process between 35-40 applications per day.

Since June 29 the NYPD has had 179 officers file for retirement which is a 411 percent increase from the same time last year.

Officers are frustrated with the lack of respect and the loss of their overtime pay.

Last week Mayor DeBlasio had passed a budget that cut $1 billion in funding to the NYPD despite the drastic increase in crime over the past several weeks.

The lack of leadership in NYC and the disrespect is driving officers to walk away from the department.
