NY Dem Gov Condones Tearing Down Statues As ‘A Healthy Expression’

Governor Cuomo made a statement on Tuesday that the removal of statues of historical leaders is a healthy expression of anger.

As President Trump has called on local leaders to protect historical monuments, Governor Cuomo does not agree. He feels protesters that are defacing statues are expressing their anger against historic sins in a healthy way.

“The Teddy Roosevelt statue I think was less about Teddy Roosevelt but the other parts of that statue. And look, people are making a statement about equality, about community to be against racism, against slavery,”
“I think those are good statements. And I think it’s a healthy expression of people saying, ‘Let’s get some priorities here and let’s remember the sin and mistake that this nation made and let’s not celebrate it.”
– Governor Cuomo

Across the country protesters have torn down or put graffiti on historical monuments. Some states have started to remove statues. In New York City Mayor DeBlasio has order the statue of Theodore Roosevelt be removed from the entrance of the Museum of Natural History.

While Cumo believes defacing historical statues of American leaders is a good way to express your anger about injustice, I am sure there are much healthier alternatives.
