Mario Salerno realized that his tenants are facing a lot of hardships as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and he didn’t want to add to that stress. He has decided that he will waive rent for the month of April
Salerno owns approximately 80 units spread out between Williamsburg and Greenpoint Brooklyn. On March 30th he put up a sign on all the front doors of his buildings.
“Due to the recent pandemic of Coronavirus COVID-19 affecting all of us, please note I am waiving rent for the month for April.”

His act of kindness is greatly appreciated among his tenants. Many of them have been out of work for weeks and worried about how they would pay rent. This helps alleviate some of the stress that many of them are facing
“For me, it was more important for people’s health and worrying about who could put food on whose table. I say don’t worry about paying me, worry about your neighbor and worry about your family.”
– Mario Salerno
Other landlords across the country have taken similar action. Hoping to help alleviate stress for their tenants. It is amazing to see how many people have stepped up to lend a helping hand to those who are struggling
