New York Firefighter Loses Infant Daughter to Coronavirus Complications

One of the newest members to the FDNY lost his 5 month old daughter to the coronavirus this past week.

Jay-Natalie La Santa who was just one week shy of being 5 months old passed away on Monday due to complications from the coronavirus. Her father Jerel La Santa was an FDNY firefighter and part of the FDNY Hispanic society.

“One of the worst experiences as a parent is to go through the loss of a child. It is with extreme sorrow to announce the passing of Jay-Natalie La Santa (5 months) daughter of our newest member to the Department and to the FDNY Hispanic Society family, Jerel and Lindsey La Santa,”

The family plans to have a service for their daughter on May 2 via Facebook live.

“At first, Jerel and Lindsey were going to have an intimate service for Jay-Natalie. Because there has been such an outpouring of support they would like to extend an invitation to all for Jay’s virtual service,”

The GoFundMe page has has raised roughly $25,000 for the Jay-Natalie’s medical expenses.
