by AmericasKeepersAdmin on April 01, 2020

As first responders continue to put themselves in harms way serving their communities, a 33 year old firefighter from New Jersey passed away on Tuesday from complications from the coronavirus

Israel Tolentino was a firefighter with the Passaic Fire Department in New Jersey. He joined the Passaic Fire Department a little more than a year ago and his death is considered a line of duty death.

Tolentino also worked as an EMT when he wasn’t fighting fires. He was married and leaves behind his wife and two young children.

“By all accounts an incredible guy, and somebody who we mourn with his family friends.”
– Governor Phil Murphy

Many First Responders continue to work putting themselves in danger of contracting the deadly virus. Newark has three police officers and six firefighters who have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Firefighter Tolentino
