Louisiana police in Arcadia County were caught on video using a siren similar to the one in “The Purge” to alert residents of the start of the curfew

A video was obtained by local Scripps affiliate KATC of Louisiana police patrolling the empty streets of Crowley LA blasting a siren that sounded similar to the one used during a scene in the movie, “The Purge”to signify a yearly tradition in which all laws were temporarily suspended for a short period of time.

Police officials stated that the siren’s origin was not made clear to them prior to use and that going forward they would not be using a siren again.

An Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Department made a statement clarifying that they had not used a siren, but they had received numerous calls about it

“Last night a ‘Purge Siren’ was utilized by the Crowley Police Department as part of their starting curfew. We have received numerous complaints with the belief that our agency was involved in this process. We were not involved in the use of the “Purge Siren” and will not utilize any type of siren for this purpose,”
