Last week Los Angeles county loosened some of its stay at home orders by allowing certain retail stores to open for curbside pickup, golf courses to reopen and some trails throughout the county opened as well. Beaches in the county are reopening this week
However during the Board of Supervisors meeting today, Ferrer said it could be sometime before the guidelines would loosen up. The only way that would happen was if there was a dramatic change to the available tools to combat the deadly virus
“Our hope is that by using the data, we’d be able to slowly lift restrictions over the next three months. But without widely available therapeutic testing for the coronavirus or rapid at-home tests that would allow people to test themselves daily, it seems unlikely that restrictions would be completely eased.”
– Los Angeles County, Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer
Los Angeles county continues to see a rise in daily coronavirus cases and more than half of California’s reported deaths from the virus come from there as well.
While beaches are opening up people are only allowed to be using them for exercise such as jogging, swimming, walking and surfing. Also anyone on the beach who is not in the water must wear a face mask.
The announcement of the stay at home order continuing for three months comes after a weekend full of protest. Residents are tired of their rights being violated and protested throughout the weekend demanding that the state reopen.
