Laredo Firefighter Killed By U.S. Border Patrol Agent

A Laredo Firefighter was shot and killed by a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agent after a domestic altercation

On Wednesday police received a call just before 10:30 pm about a shooting at an apartment complex. When police arrived on the scene they found Guadalupe David de Luna with a gunshot wound and he was eventually pronounced dead

De Luna was a 21 year veteran with the Laredo Fire Department.

A U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Agent, Ernesto Gillen, was arrested in connection of the murder of Firefighter De Luna. He was charged with a first degree felony.

“It was determined that a domestic altercation led up to the shooting death of the victim, whereas Ernesto Gillen, 43, was detained in the investigation,”
“All initial findings in the investigation were presented to Webb County District Attorney Isidro Alaniz and a charge of Murder was accepted against Ernesto Gillen. Mr. Gillen was transported to Webb County Jail in lieu of no bond.”
