John Zutz is landlord in Milwaukee and he is trying to do what he can to help his tenants who might be financially impacted by the coronavirus. Zutz owns a 3 family home and is asking his tenants to only pay $100 for April’s rent.
“I see what’s happening inside the world, in the country, and I realize there’s going to be a lot of people out of work, and they need help. I’m not sure if (my tenants) need it or not. That’s the point. They may not need it, but I encourage them, if they don’t need it, to spend the money in the neighborhood.”

One of the tenants, Cai Logan, who lives there is grateful for the help since his income has been cut in half by the coronavirus.
“This is affecting everyone, and this is affecting me financially. I felt relieved, and I also felt grateful on a community level because (Zutz’s) intention was to free up some money to invest back in the neighborhood during a time of economic downturn.”
– Cai Logan (tenant)
At this point Zutz is unsure what he will do about May’s rent but he is hoping if any other landlords see this story and they are in a financial position to do something similar it will inspire them to help their tenants out as well.
