Knife Wielding Criminal Assaults Homeowner Before Being Shot & Killed During Home Invasion In Michigan
Michigan State Police Cadillac Post dispatched troopers at 1:30pm on December 22, 2019 in response to a report of a home invasion and shooting on First Street in Copemish
Nathan Reed, a 29 y.o. Copemish man, allegedly forced his way into a home occupied by a man and woman armed with a knife.A physical struggle occurred and one of the occupants retrieved a firearm and shot Reed. Reed was reported dead at the scene from gunshot injuries
Most people have heard the saying, “Don’t bring a knife to a gunfight.” Apparently that is exactly what Reed did near Saginaw, Michigan when he invaded their home, but we are assuming he didn’t know he could potentially be facing a gun.
The male occupant of the home was uninjured and the female occupant was treated for a minor head injury and released shortly thereafter.
At this time the reason for Reed entering the home remains unknown and it appears that all involved were strangers
Officers from the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Public Safety, DNR Conversation Officers, Benzie County Sheriff’s Office, and North Flight EMS all responded and assisted at the scene of the crime.
