The governor of Illinois seems to be going to extremes to slow the spread of the coronavirus. At the end of April he announced that the state’s stay at home order would extend through May. He also announced that masks were mandatory in places where people could not practice social distancing.
On Sunday in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union” he announced that residents of Illinois should anticipate having to wear masks and practice social distancing indefinitely until there is a vaccine or a very effective treatment.
“Phase IV is just the phase before we would have a vaccine, assuming we maybe never get a vaccine, we’ll have to deal with hopefully a treatment that will come along that will be very effective, but even without that, everyone’s going to have to wear a mask. We’re still going to have to socially distance. The truth is that Coronavirus is still out there.”
– Governor J. B. Pritzker
However while Governor Pritzker is mandating residents stay home, he decided to send his family to Florida to enjoy the sunshine state. When he was asked about the decision he refused to answer.
It’s ironic that while he takes away freedom from the residents of Illinois he wouldn’t do the same for his family. Does he believe the measures he has put in place are necessary or does he just enjoy being able to have control???
