The Gary Sinise Foundation has partnered with the Los Angeles Police Foundation along with local businesses and volunteers to provide a place for officers to rest and get their basic needs meant.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic officers have been working 12 hour shifts. Many officers are unable to go home out of fear of spreading the coronavirus to their loved ones or because the commute from work to home is too far
The police department has set up 80 cots at the Los Angeles Police Academy for officers to get some much needed rest after the shifts.
The Gary Sinise Foundation and the Los Angeles Police Foundation also added additional services for police officers including shoe shining and barber services. Police officers also have food provided for them and services to clean their uniforms
“My heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones and friends during this terrible crisis,”
“As the coronavirus continues to grip our nation and global community, we face a public health crisis with many cases of COVID-19 being confirmed daily and no clear timetable of when this disease will be fully contained,” he continued. “The challenges facing our public health workers, our first responders, our military – the challenges that they and their families are facing are very, very demanding.”

The Emergency COVID-19 Combat Service campaign is also providing protective gear, 4000 pieces of sterilizing gear and personal protective equipment to first responders all across the United States
“Most of all… I want to say ‘thank you’ to the amazing men and women who are out there on the front lines – our heroes. We look to you to inspire us all through this time of uncertainty and fear. Thank you for serving our country and fighting this fight. I salute you.”
– Gary Sinise
According to the Gary Sinise Foundation website over 91 percent of the funds donated to the foundation goes to first responders
