Fresno county has their hands full right now with combating crime ever since the state freed hundreds of criminals in the county under the zero bail policy which was implemented to slow the spread of the coronavirus in jails.
Sheriff Mims during an interview on the Trevor Carey radio show stated that she would not be enforcing Governor Newsom’s stay at home order.
“I’ve heard multiple sheriffs around the nation state they will not enforce their governors’ shelter-in-place orders. Is that your position?”
– Trevor Carey
“That is my position. We do not stop the public to find out what they’re doing when they’re not sheltering in place. We don’t ask those questions, we don’t ask if they’re ‘essential.’”
– Sheriff Mims
On April 6 California enacted a zero bail policy which allows suspects who committed crimes that were considered misdemeanors or non violent felonies to be released.
Since the policy has gone into effect 711 suspects have been released in Fresno County and 87 have been rearrested.
Instead of focusing on enforcing unconstitutional orders, the Sheriff’s department would rather focus on real crime to protect the citizens of Fresno County.
