Firefighter Injured In Fireworks Assault In Tennessee

Early Sunday in Jackson TN firefighters and police were attacked while responding to a dumpster fire.

First responders were responding to a dumpster fire near Lincoln Court Apartments when they were attacked with fireworks from bystanders.

One firefighter was injured during the attacks and several city vehicles were damaged. The firefighter has been treated for his injuries.

“We will not and cannot tolerate this type of behavior toward those that give so much to protect our community,”
– Jackson Fire Department Operations Chief Don Friddle

Since the death of George Floyd it has been more common for first responders to be attacked as they attempt to do their job to protect the communities they serve.
