Calvin Munerlyn was simply doing his job on May 1 at the Family Dollar Store on Fifth Avenue when he got into an altercation with Sharmel Teague about wearing a face mask in the store.
Teague got upset when she was asked to wear a mask while inside the store. She yelled at Munerlyn and spit at him. At that point Munerlyn asked her to leave the store and told the cashier not to serve her
Teague left the store and shortly after that her husband and son went to Family Dollar to confront the security guard
Teague’s son, Ramonyea Bishop allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Munerlyn in the back of the head.
Around 2:25 pm police were called to the store. When they arrived they discovered that Munerlyn was unconscious and bleeding. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“From all indications, Mr. Munerlyn was simply doing his job in upholding the Governor’s Executive Order related to the COVID-19 pandemic for the safety of store employees and customers,”

The three family members have all been charged with first degree murder. Teague is currently in custody, but police are still trying to locate Larry Teague and Ramonyea Bishop
