DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department confirmed a second death due to complications from the COVID-19 virus, this time a Captain with the department. The Captain died on Tuesday night. Information about the Captain is limited as DPD has not released any identification information.
This is the second death due to the Coronavirus this week. On Monday a 38-year-old dispatcher succumbed to the virus as well.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan stated 9 members of the Police Department have tested positive for COVID-19 and at least 233 members of the department are in quarantine.
As of Tuesday night, Michigan had over 1,800 positive cases of COVID-19 and at least 26 deaths.
