DeKalb County Sheriff Killed In On Duty Accident

On Wednesday in DeKalb County Missouri Sheriff Andy Clark died in a crash while responding to help one of his deputies.

Sheriff Andy Clark was traveling southbound on Missouri Route 33 in a Chevy Pickup truck. As he crossed over to Eastbound U.S. 36 he was struck by a GMC SUV in the passenger side.

Clark who was not wearing a seat belt was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and the passengers in the SUV were transported to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Sheriff Clark had been in law enforcement for 23 years and he became a sheriff with the DeKalb County Police Department in 2016.

Hundreds of people gathered outside of the DeKalb County Courthouse on Thursday night to honor the sheriff with a procession and candlelight vigil.
