In Washington D.C. a police officer was shot during a struggle with a suspect who was being barred from a property

Metropolitan Police from the Sixth District responded to a call just shortly before 2 pm in 3400 block of A Street S.E. in regard to a barring order

When police arrived and located the suspect a struggle began. The suspect was armed and shot a police officer. The other officers on the scene were able to apprehend the suspect and take him into custody

“The officers were given a description and a first name of a person who was barred from the property and the officers engaged that person,”
-Patrol Chief Chanel Dickerson

The officer who was shot was transported to a nearby hospital where he is being treated. The officer sustained non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

“This is an ongoing investigation, so we will still be investigating the bar notice and additional charges. Detectives are in the area, canvassing for witnesses.”
