Cory Booker ends his long-shot campaign for president Monday. Now the ‘party of diversity’ is almost entirely comprised of white candidates. Unless of course, you count Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren.
Spartacus is the third Democrat primary candidate to drop out of the race this month. They’re dropping like flies. Marianne Williamson and former HUD Secretary Julian Castro had previously given up. Castro went on to endorse Elizabeth Warren.
Booker addressed his supporters in an email…
“It was a difficult decision to make, but I got in this race to win, and I’ve always said I wouldn’t continue if there was no longer a path to victory. Our campaign has reached the point where we need more money to scale up and continue building a campaign that can win — money we don’t have, and money that is harder to raise because I won’t be on the next debate stage and because the urgent business of impeachment will rightly be keeping me in Washington.
The New Jersey senator slumped in the polls and struggled to raise cash. made the announcement in a video posted to Twitter.
“Today, I am suspending my campaign for president with the same spirit with which it began,” Booker said in the video. “It is my faith in us, my faith in us together as a nation that we share common pain and common problems that can only be solved with a common purpose and a sense of common cause.”
The 50-year-old ‘which exit’ State lawmaker added he’s itching to “recommit myself to the work.”
Really Big Breaking News (Kidding): Booker, who was in zero polling territory, just dropped out of the Democrat Presidential Primary Race. Now I can rest easy tonight. I was sooo concerned that I would someday have to go head to head with him!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 13, 2020
“I can’t wait to get back on the campaign trail and campaign as hard as I can for whoever is the eventual nominee”
Booker campaigned as a moderate and the antithesis of President Donald Trump, promising to lead with “radical love.” As the first African American senator from New Jersey, serving his first term, he drew comparisons to former President Barack Obama. His campaign never caught fire in the same way that Obama’s did.
From day one of his campaign, the polls hovered between 1% and 3% while Bernie and Warren got the strong embrace of the progressive left.
Booker’s drop-out came after it became clear he didn’t make the cut for this week’s seventh 2020 debate, which will only feature six WHITE candidates: Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar and Tom Steyer.
It seems odd that the party that ‘hates’ old white men, has 2 old white men leading in the polls this late in the primary.
With Booker’s exit, Andrew Yang is the only non-white Democrat left in the race. Yang’s campaign has gained momentum in recent weeks
