Colorado Dog Trained To Deliver Groceries To Neighbor During Coronavirus Shutdown

by AmericasKeepersAdmin on March 31, 2020

During a time of crisis never underestimate the impact a simple act of kindness can have on someone else’s life. It’s seeing the good that can come from chaos that gives us hope.

In Manitou Springs Colorado one neighbor has come up with a creative way to help her neighbor get her groceries. Karen Evelth has trained her golden retriever to take groceries to her neighbor who is currently self quarantining due to underlying health conditions.

Renee Hellman has COPD and other health conditions that make her particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus. As a result she is unable to get out of her house to buy groceries.

Hellman’s neighbor, has trained her dog known as Sunny, to get Hellman’s grocery list each morning and then take the groceries to her each night. Sonny has been delivering groceries now for a few weeks.

“He does get his treats, he’s motivated by those for sure. But he’s really special to me, and I’d be lost without him because he helps me so much, so I wanted him to help other people. That’s exactly what he did. Pretty proud.”
