Raleigh, NC – Raleigh police released body cam footage of the shooting last Tuesday which sparked protests. A review of the body cam clearly shows that 26 year old Javier Torres was armed with a handgun, which was in his hand during the foot pursuit.
After the shooting, protesters had gathered outside of the home of Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck Brown and some even went to the governor’s home where they grabbed the American flag which was later seen burning on the street.
Protesters were upset because they felt the police were slow to release information regarding the shooting. At the protests and on social media the false narrative of the suspect being 16 years old and only armed with a pizza box spread.
“As a result of the reckless and false information that has been spread on social media, a number of spontaneous protests occurred during the night, which caused minor damage to property in and around downtown Raleigh,” Raleigh Police Chief Deck-Brown.
