Astros’ Star Pitcher, Justin Verlander Will Donate Weekly Paychecks to Coronavirus Charities

by AmericasKeepersAdmin on April 05, 2020

While the MLB continues to pay its players despite the season being suspended, one of the Astros’ players announced that he will be donating his paychecks to coronavirus relief efforts

Astros’ star pitcher, Justin Verlander, made an announcement on Instagram in a video with his wife, supermodel Kate Upton, that he will be donating his weekly MLB paychecks to various organizations assisting with coronavirus relief

The couple will pick a different charity each week to donate the paychecks. When Verlander gets his first paycheck they will announce who the first charity is.

“Everyone around the world is affected by this virus, and we hope to contribute to the families and jobs affected, the healthcare workers and first responders on the front lines and the many others in need of basic necessities, medical supplies and support at home,”

Verlander is expected to make $33 million this year, but it is unclear if players will receive their full salary while the season is suspended.

“We know everyone is impacted by this crisis, but for those who are able, we encourage you to stay home to help flatten the curve and look to those around you who need a helping hand,”
