A 19 year old Arkansas teenager attempted to blow up a vehicle in the Pentagon Parking lot yesterday

Matthew Dmitri Richardson from Fayetteville AK was caught by Police in the Pentagon Parking lot on Monday attempting to blow up a SUV. An officer spotted Richardson next to the vehicle attempting to set fire to a piece of cloth that was inserted into the gas tank

The officer confronted Richardson who stated that he was going to blow up the car and then himself. The teenager then took off on foot to several nearby roads. He was eventually caught by the Pentagon Emergency Police Division in Arlington.

Once he was caught the officers discovered court documents he was carrying related to a felony assault on a police officer in Arlington County.

The SUV that Richardson attempted to set on fire belonged to a service member who did not know the suspect.

According to the Justice Department Richardson is being charged with, “maliciously attempting to damage and destroy by means of fire, a vehicle used in and affecting interstate and foreign commerce.”

If Richardson is found guilty he could face between 5-20 years in prison.
