Protest in Minneapolis continued into the early morning hours of Thursday as video captures fires erupting and businesses being looted across the city.
Governor Walz put out a tweet late Wednesday night calling the situation, “extremely dangerous.” as city officials requested the assistance of the National Guard.
The situation near Lake Street and Hiawatha in Minneapolis has evolved into an extremely dangerous situation. For everyone’s safety, please leave the area and allow firefighters and paramedics to get to the scene.

Protesters threw objects at officers and officers responded by using tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bombs.
Looters were seen at various businesses including Target, Dollar Tree, Club Foods, AutoZone and a liquor store.
“We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing our community. We decided to close our Lake Street store earlier today and worked to ensure all of our team members were accounted for and safe. Our focus will remain on our team members’ safety and helping our community heal. Until further notice, our store will remain closed.”

The Governor is pleading with people to keep the protest peaceful.
