Seven people were arrested in Portland for the riots over the holiday weekend at Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse.
Violent protest continued into the holiday weekend in Portland targeting the Mark O Hatfield Courthouse. Protesters broke windows, exploded fireworks inside the building and threw bricks at the building. Officers were also attacked during the protests.
As the violence continued police declared the protest a riot and used crowd control munitions to try to break up the group.
“The Hatfield Federal Courthouse has been a repeated target of vandalism, sustaining extensive damage. The courthouse has been subjected to threats; aerial fireworks including mortars; high-intensity lasers targeting officers’ eyes; thrown rocks, bottles, and balloons filled with paint from demonstrators while performing their duties.”

All seven people who were arrested appeared in court on Monday facing felony charges. The individuals have been released pending trial.
Portland is just one of many cities that saw protests turn violent over the 4th of July weekend.
