2 Police Officers Injured In Tampa When Hit With Thrown Bottles

As Tampa Police officers attempted to control a crowd blocking an intersection on Saturday morning, two officers sustained minor injuries as the crowd threw bottles as the officers.

Shortly after 1 am on Saturday officers responded to a call reporting gunshots fired and a potential shooting victim. When officers arrived at the scene they found a crowd was blocking the intersection.

The crowd became aggressive as officers attempted to find the shooting victim. While officers were attempting to take a suspect into custody the crowd began throwing alcoholic beverages and glass bottles at the officers.

Two officers were injured during the incident. Both sustained minor head injuries. The officers have been treated and released. No shooting victim was ever found at the scene.
