2 Dead, 1 Wounded After Campus Shooting at Texas A&M University Commerce

A shooting occurred at Texas A&M University Commerce today killing two people and injuring a third.

The shooting occurred at Pride Rock Residence Hall and police immediately locked down the campus and told individuals to take shelter. The order to take shelter was lifted shortly after 1:30pm.

All day and evening classes have been cancelled at the University as a precautionary measure. Officers are stationed throughout the campus including all key gathering points.

“Our facilities are on lock out until further notice. No one will be allowed to enter or exit at this time.”

Authorities have not stated whether or not a suspect has been arrested in regards to the shooting.

“A&M-Commerce UPD is actively investigating three gunshot victims in Pride Rock Residence Hall on the A&M-Commerce campus. There have been two confirmed deaths. The third victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment. UPD has stationed officers throughout the campus, including all key gathering points, for the safety of the campus community. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.”
